Cuba, New Guinea, Madagascar, Albania
So first I wanted to check out what Cuba would say about their “government”…the site was all in Spanish, of course, but there was a link on the main page asking if you’d like to visit the “English Version”. When I clicked, and have been trying to access it for the past week, it says it’s under construction. I actually feel as though it’s probably said that for a long, long, long time. New Guinea’s whole website was under construction (I was looking for countries I thought would be crazy interesting), and Madagascar’s site didn’t work, and everyone I tried wasn’t the official one. Finally Albania worked, and allowed me to translate it. http://www.parlament.al/ You can see by the pictures of people in court and in suits, that they look “all business”. There is a woman in a suit with a quote next to her saying “Honored visitors, friends of the Albanian Parliament, Welcome to our website! ” I think that is sweet-they are giving off an extremely friendly vibe when you first access the site. It also says, after clicking the welcome link, “You have the right to supervise our work, and this web site is part of that recognition. We want our work to be transparent and available to you.” It is clear that they are branding their country as somewhere that is informative, fair, and truely cares about the people and their thoughts, and the rights of the people, and take their job as fair but firm. I haven’t seen this outlook in a lot of the other sites that people have mentioned.
